When connected to a battery string, the Alber BPM-100 battery performance monitor tracks the number of times the battery string supplies power to the load, and tracks the duration of each load event. If the charger voltage or ambient temperature strays out of tolerance, the BPM sounds an alarm. A float current alarm is an optional feature.
Data from the BPM reports the operating conditions most important to battery life: improper charging, high temperatures, and cycling. The microcontroller-based system continuously reads the battery overall voltage (float current optional) and ambient temperature. Information derived from the BPM battery performance monitor warns the user of any adverse conditions, and the data may help settle warranty claims with a battery manufacturer. |
